It just keeps happening. Nintendo keeps announcing various<\/a> products<\/a> and projects<\/a> that are not the Switch 2, during the specific time period that everyone is expecting Nintendo to announce the Switch 2. Fairly or not, fans and reporters alike have been in a holding pattern since May, when Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa posted an announcement on X<\/a> (formerly Twitter) about the timing of the next console\u2019s announcement, writing, \u201cWe will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The thing is, the fiscal year for Nintendo doesn\u2019t actually end until March 31, 2025. And yet fans and industry experts all know that it would make sense for the company to announce its new hardware before <\/em>then, even if it\u2019s not going to be available <\/em>until Q1 2025. <\/p>\n

So, we all wondered: Would the announcement happen in June, when so many other gaming announcements<\/a> tend to happen? Clearly it did not. Maybe there would be a closed-door console preview at Gamescom, or perhaps at Tokyo Game Show? Nope, didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n

This past month in particular has had me second-guessing everything. There have just been all these other <\/em>Nintendo announcements. A new piece of Nintendo hardware did get announced a couple weeks ago \u2014 and it\u2019s an alarm clock<\/a>! Uh, yeah, OK. Then, a mysterious Nintendo playtest<\/a> got leaked \u2014 and while it sounds cool, Nintendo getting into the MMO business says next to nothing about the direction of the company\u2019s next hardware advancement. On Wednesday night, rumormongers got fans keyed up for a new Nintendo announcement on the horizon, which turned out to be\u2026 the Nintendo Music app<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Third time\u2019s the charm \u2014 it\u2019s funny now. I don\u2019t care about the Switch 2 anymore. (Yes, I do.) It\u2019s fine if this keeps happening! I\u2019m enjoying<\/em> this actually. (I\u2019m not.) I don\u2019t even want<\/em> to play Metroid Prime 4<\/a><\/em> anymore. (I want nothing more.) I don\u2019t even care if it\u2019s a Switch 2 launch title. <\/p>\n

(Is it? I need to know. Please. Just tell me that much. Is it? Do any of these things even exist? Has this all just been a dream? Am I going to hear the Alarmo any second now?)<\/p>\n
