{"id":101529,"date":"2025-09-13T02:55:47","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T02:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arcader.org\/resident-evil-movie-reboot-releases-in-theaters-this-september\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T02:55:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T02:55:47","slug":"resident-evil-movie-reboot-releases-in-theaters-this-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arcader.org\/news\/resident-evil-movie-reboot-releases-in-theaters-this-september\/","title":{"rendered":"Resident Evil Movie Reboot Releases In Theaters This September"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arcader.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/resident-evil-movie-reboot-releases-in-theaters-this-september.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"420\" alt=\"\" typeof=\"Image\" class=\"image-style-body-default\" \/> <\/p>\n<p>The upcoming <em>Resident Evil<\/em> movie reboot from Constantin Film officially has its theatrical release date: <a href=\"\/2021\/01\/23\/top-horror-games-coming-in-2021\">Horror fans<\/a>&nbsp;can look forward to it launching in September.<\/p>\n<p>We had a few new looks at the upcoming movie earlier this year, including screenshots <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2020\/11\/19\/new-resident-evil-movie-reboot-images-revealed\">of Raccoon City up in flames<\/a>, and production has officially wrapped up.&nbsp;The upcoming movie, directed by&nbsp;<em>47 Meters Down&#8217;s&nbsp;<\/em>Johannes Roberts, is slated for a September 3, 2021 release window in movie theaters around the world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today\u2019s audiences,&#8221;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2020\/10\/06\/resident-evil-movie-reboot-cast-revealed-with-some-big-names-attached\">said the director previously.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As far as the cast goes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kaya Scodelario (<em>Maze Runner)<\/em>&nbsp;as Claire Redfield<\/li>\n<li>Hannah John-Kamen (<em>Ant-Man)&nbsp;<\/em>as Jill Valentine<\/li>\n<li>Robbie Amell (<em>Upload)&nbsp;<\/em>as Chris Redfield&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Tom Hopper&nbsp;(<em>The Umbrella Academy<\/em>) as Wesker&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Avan Jogia (<i>Zombieland: Double Tap)&nbsp;<\/i>as Leon Kennedy<\/li>\n<li>Neal McDonough (<em>Yellowstone)&nbsp;<\/em>as William Birkin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The upcoming<em> Resident Evil <\/em>movie reboot will follow a new universe that is heavily inspired by the Capcom franchise, including the mainstay characters listed above. It also has an all-star team behind the film, including Robert Kulzer as producer (Paul W.S. Anderson&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Resident Evil&nbsp;<\/em>movies), James Harris (<em>I Am Not A Serial Killer),&nbsp;<\/em>Hartley Gorenstein (<em>The Boys),&nbsp;<\/em>and Martin Moszkowicz as executive producer. Alex Zhang (<em>Greyhound)&nbsp;<\/em>and Victor Hadida are slated to co-executive producer with Colin Scully and Alex Westmore overseeing the entire reboot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how this new batch of <em>Resident Evil <\/em>movies do. Anderson&#8217;s take on the Capcom franchise started off incredibly strong, but dwindled into a convoluted mess with each release after.
