The Russo brothers are set to make their much-anticipated return<\/a> to the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a> in 2026 with Avengers: Doomsday<\/a><\/em>, which will feature the long-awaited introduction of fan-favorite super villain Doctor Doom<\/a> (played by Robert Downey Jr.<\/a>, no less!). Before that, though, the Russos are taking a slight detour into post-apocalyptic road trip territory with their upcoming film The Electric State<\/em>, coming to Netflix early next year.<\/p>\n

Based on Simon St\u00e5lenhag<\/a>\u2019s 2018 graphic novel, The Electric State<\/em> stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) as Michelle, an orphaned teenager living in a dystopian world recovering from an attempted robot uprising. After meeting Cosmo, a mysterious robot she believes might hold the key to finding her long-lost brother Christopher, Michelle embarks on a journey across what remains of the American southwest in search of him. Along the way, Michelle is joined by Keats (Chris Pratt), a small-time smuggler and his robot sidekick Herman (Anthony Mackie).\u00a0So, it\u2019s kind of an unofficial, mini-Avengers reunion in the lead up to the big shebang.<\/p>\n

It certainly looks<\/em> like a movie inspired by Simon St\u00e5lenhag\u2019s work, who\u2019s gained notoriety for his lavishly rendered paintings<\/a> of retro-futuristic countrysides, bubble-headed automatons, and dilapidated technology. The Electric State<\/em> is the second adaptation of St\u00e5lenhag\u2019s work since 2020\u2019s Tales from the Loop<\/a><\/em> starring Rebecca Hall, Paul Schneider, and Sir Jonathan Pryce.<\/p>\n

The Electric State<\/em> will premiere on Netflix on March 14.<\/p>\n
