A remake of the original 2001 game of the same name by Polish developer Bloober Team (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23160372\/layers-of-fears-bloober-team-release-date-announcement-trailer\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/23160372\/layers-of-fears-bloober-team-release-date-announcement-trailer\">Layers of Fear<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/22250793\/the-medium-review-pc-xbox-series-x-s\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.polygon.com\/reviews\/22250793\/the-medium-review-pc-xbox-series-x-s\">The Medium<\/a><\/em>), <em>Silent Hill 2<\/em> is easily the most anticipated and ambitious horror game of 2024, a modern take on one of the most iconic and influential survival horror games of all time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Whether this is your first time playing the Silent Hill series or not, now is as perfect a time as any to explore the movies and artists who inspired it. Similarly, like many of director Alejandro Jodorowsky\u2019s films, <em>El Topo<\/em> is also full of beautiful, quasi-psychedelic imagery, which is highly similar to some of the aesthetic choices in the Silent Hill series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong>Where to watch:<\/strong> Available to rent\/purchase on Amazon and Apple<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">The Holy Mountain<\/h3>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong><strong>What it is:<\/strong><\/strong> Jodorowsky\u2019s <em>The Holy Mountain<\/em> is a surrealist film that blends religious symbolism, mythology, and social satire. It follows a Christ-like figure on a transformative journey through a series of bizarre and symbolic encounters, culminating in a psychedelic vision of the universe. <em>The Holy Mountain<\/em> appears to have had a strong influence on <em>Silent Hill 4: The Room<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong>Where to watch:<\/strong> Available to rent\/purchase on Amazon and Apple<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-none\">Santa Sangre<\/h3>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"><strong><strong>What it is:<\/strong><\/strong> Likely the strangest of the movies on this list, <em>Santa Sangre<\/em> is mostly about a bizarre circus that features all kinds of different otherworldly performances, which are perfectly recognizable but still feel strange and unnatural \u2014 and largely pointedly sexual.
