Mortal Kombat 11 gets new skins based on the 1995 MK movie

Three actors who appeared in the 1995 Mortal Kombat film adaptation are reprising their roles for Mortal Kombat 11. The voices and likenesses of Christopher Lambert, Linden Ashby, and Bridgette Wilson-Sampras are now available as skins for Raiden, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade, respectively.

The trio of skins and voice packs can be purchased in Mortal Kombat 11’s new Klassic MK Movie Skin Pack, where they’re known as Protector of Earthrealm Raiden, Hollywood Kombatant Johnny Cage, and Island Bound Sonya Blade. Those looks are based on the costumes each actor wore in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Mortal Kombat movie, a fun, high-waisted throwback to mid-’90s fashion.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the new cosmetics on Tuesday, confirming an earlier leak.

Lambert, Ashby, and Wilson-Sampras join fellow Mortal Kombat actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in MK11. Tagawa appears in the game as Shang Tsung, just as he did in the original Mortal Kombat movie.

The Klassic MK Movie Skin Pack costs $5.99, and may be worth the price of admission for folks who would prefer to avoid seeing or hearing Ronda Rousey’s take on Sonya Blade, or prefer their thunder gods with a prominent French accent.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Developer NetherRealm Studios recently released an “Ultimate” version of the gory fighting game, which includes the original title, two Kombat Packs with additional characters, and the Aftermath story expansion.
