Disneyland is closed, but you can buy Marvel’s Avengers Campus merch soon

The opening of Disneyland’s Avengers Campus has been delayed due to COVID-19, but if you want a piece of the park before it opens, Disney is offering a chance to buy the first piece of merch ahead of the land’s debut — even as the park itself is closed!

Spider-Bots, fighting robotic spiders, will be available for purchase in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney in the World of Disney and Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere Shops starting Dec. 4. Also available will be merchandise themed to the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) area of the park. In the park’s story, WEB is an organization started by Tony Stark designed to showcase the works of promising young scientists. It’s also the location of the land’s central Spider-Man ride, WEB-Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure.

The Spider-Bots will be heavily featured in the story of the ride, where Spider-Man gives guests a tour of the facility before the Spider-Bots break loose. Guests will then board vehicles to help wrangle the chaotic robots. The Spider-Bot toys are designed to battle against each other. A preview event revealed different customization options designed around other Marvel heroes, though the default option is the distinct red and blue of Spider-Man himself. If you absolutely can’t wait to own a Spider-Bot — and you happen to be an annual pass holder — you can make a reservation for an exclusive pre-sale event at Downtown Disney District from Nov. 30 through Dec. 3. There is still no new opening date for Avengers Campus. Disneyland itself is indefinitely closed due to coronavirus restrictions.
